Geologic Setting

Heavily cratered terrain southwest of Nepenthes Mensae with old degraded craters and rough intercrater surface resulting from aeolian and fluvial erosion. Old highland material with fluvial and aeolian material inside the craters.

Scientific Rationale

Ancient highlands.

Objectives

Obtain composition of ancient highlands material, local seismic information (possibly global in conjunction with other penetrators), meteorology, and photogeology.
