Geologic Setting
Site lies in an area containing Hesperian terrain (Hvm) with probable fluvial
material, Amazonian terrain (Aa5); volcanic terrain with local lava flows
overlying alluvial fans, and Noachian terrain (Npld); cratered upland.
Scientific Rationale
To be determined.
Objectives
Sample of in situ materials and talus materials from Npld (cratered upland);
sample and return of fresh crater ejecta materials; sample of probable fluvial
sediments (Hvm) and volcanic (basalts?) materials (Aa5); calibrate
size/frequency crater curve.
Potential Problems
To be determined.
Trafficability
Moderate on Hesperian terrain (Hvm). Poor on volcanic plain (Aa6).
Estimated Traverse Distance
50 - 200 km.
