Lava flows in Marte Vallis

Marte Vallis is located in the Elysium region of Mars. This MOC image shows that hyper fluid lava flows were channeled into Marte Vallis. The lava has run some 1000 km away from its point of origin.

The lava flow shows levees. The margin of the flow is broken into plates of crust that have been transported away by the molten rock and finally deposited as the lava cooled down.
